If exterior waterproofing is not possible
The most effective way to waterproof a building is to apply waterproofing products where the building comes into contact with the soil, i.e. externally. However, it is not always possible to waterproof a building from the outside. In order to provide protection against moisture in such cases, PCI offers an effective interior protection system – the Barra system.
Spalled render, mould spots and efflorescence on masonry indicate that a wall is moist. Moisture in a basement may have many causes. However, it is not just the moisture itself that is a problem, but rather the nitrates and other salts dissolved in the moisture. They are distributed throughout the masonry by the moisture and form crystals which absorb further moisture and swell. As a result, the top layer of masonry and the render break away from the wall.

The high-grade products in the System PCI Barra are applied to the inside of a basement wall and form a reliable barrier against water penetrating the masonry. The special creams and fluids are injected into the masonry to obtain effective protection. The repair mortars then applied to the wall prevent efflorescence and shape the surface. This way, a basement room can be transformed into a comfortable living area with only a few steps.
