Concrete refurbishment
Spalling on structural elements such as concrete walls and pillars is not just a cosmetic problem. If the damage penetrates beyond the surface, there is a risk that internal reinforcement may be impaired, jeopardizing the stability of the entire structure. It is therefore crucial to repair any damage which may occur properly and to ensure that the building element is protected in the long term.
Repair work on concrete structures must always be carried out with products that are fit for the purpose. Depending on the substrate that is available, PCI offers appropriate solutions for all strength classes, layer thicknesses and applications, even when working under pressure of time or at low temperatures.
Substrate preparation:
The substrate must be clean and sound. Smooth concrete surfaces must be roughened.
1. Repair mortar:
PCI Nanocret R2 – Multi-use, light repair mortar for concrete elements and masonry
2. Fairing coat for surfaces:
PCI Nanocret FC – Fiber-reinforced concrete smoothing compound for walls and soffits, or alternatively PCI Barrafill L
3. Surface protection system (optional):
Depending on requirements, e.g. PCI Polyflex, PCI Betonfinish W, PCI Silconal AG, PCI Silconal 328 or PCI Barraseal Turbo
Substrate preparation:
The substrate must be clean and sound. Any corroded reinforcement must be exposed and cleaned.
1. Corrosion protection:
PCI Legaran RP: Corrosion protection for bridges and civil engineering structures to ZTV-ING
2. Repair mortar:
PCI Nanocret R4 PCC: Heavy-duty repair mortar for concrete structures on floors, walls and overhead applications, or alternatively PCI Nanocret R4 Rapid: fast-acting repair mortar for concrete structures
3. Fairing coat for surfaces:
PCI Nanocret FC: Fiber-reinforced concrete smoothing compound for walls and soffits
4. Surface protection:
PCI Polyflex: Flexible surface protection for facades and civil engineering structures
